We continue this TF2 filler week (more info in my journal) with the Medic stamp.
Even if it's nowhere officially said the medic is a guy who was somehow connected to the nazi regime, everyone easily came to the conclusion : he is german, a "war criminal", and team fortress 2 takes places just after WW2, as the soldier's bio or visual style implies. Medic is probably inspired by all the scientists who left Germany during or after the war to start their life anew, or were captured by americans like Werner von Braun.
Since the Medic is kinda crazy, the only reasonible explanation for his departure is that nazis may be crazy, but they are not crazy the same way our dear Medic is
For those who care about my petty little life, Medic is actually my favourite class, so I don't mean the ex-nazi joke as something offensive for either the Medic character or anyone : it's just how Valve's character was designed.
Team fortress 2 belongs to Valve, a company that makes games where you blow shit up, but where people still open history books sometimes
Sure Valve stated it but only to avoid pointing out the painfully obvious. He was either a plain Combat medic in the German Wehrmacht or just a sinister scientist working for the SS as most doctors of the time.
You again? That's dedication. I already said it, but I side with you. I really believe Valve contradicted their original idea because politically correct people started bothering them about the fact that playing an ex-nazi was not right.
But I guess I don't have to type it again, you're probably attempting to debate the other guys here. XD
Was there ever a time frame that was specified in the game? I'm thinking that it takes place sometime in the 50's, just as the style of the game suggests like you said. But still....I question this.
Now, now, people. The reason why Medic was said that he wasn't a Nazi was because he destroyed all files confirming he was one. And everyone who knew would die. How I knew this? Well Medic told m-- OH CRAP, RUN!!
Many scientists were part of the Nazi party at that time, this doesn´t mean they were really racists, but they needed to be members of it, to be able to make their job.
