- The character looks at your cursor. - Click to use your current power. Some are aimed at cursor - Push spacebar when idle to change power.
EDIT: - You can move "forward" and "backward" with arrow keys. You can still use powers while doing so - Push left or right twice to "blink". You can't do it while using a power
EDIT: Couldn't resist seeing if I could use the same basic animation technique for cheap movement. For something so cheap, it actually looks fairly decent. To look really good, some things would really have to be redrawn, though. Especially the cape. Crap, this really starts to feel like a game at this point... Please don't bring that up. As I may never come up with the resources to do one.

"Victory Girl, why u always come back? You should know indie flash games are a dead business! Stop being fun to draw and leave me alone" - Me
Anyways... My mania to finish what I begun, including things I should really abandon, is bound to kill me one day... I think this is why I need to be more serious and focused in my creative process.
Basically, I had been working a while ago on improved effects to use in my old superheroine game (and by "while ago", I mean more than a year), before I decided to leave the thing behind. But then I did a sketch for fun and somehow the whole thing snowballed. In the end it became kind of an experiment in animation, and a way to show off these improved effects I developed with experience.
The worst part is that finishing this kind of reawakened the whole idea of that game. It would be really cool if I could rework it to use this level of graphics. Hopefully, it will happen... who knows.
By the way, it may be complete non sequitur I was thinking of changing the superheroine name from "Victory Girl" to "Victory Belle", in order to mark the evolution in design. The costume is different, the haircut is different, and if it somehow goes further, I think the plot too will be different. So a name change seems justified.
I kind of wonder what you think about this.
Anyway, have some fun! Critiques welcome!
Victory Girl/Victory Belle and the art belong to me.
Oui.
Someone finally noticed. XD I wanted to try blue eyes for the new design, because even if this is only inside my head, the character has actually changed a lot.
I don't know if this will actually go anywhere in terms of drawings/game/anything "real", but the character is evolving to become much more humorous and parody-based. The more I grow up, the more I think characters like this only work either for kids or as a joke. But attempts at drama don't truly work, because it is hard to take seriously a character like this because of the obligatory contradictions.
Now, I kind of see Victory Belle having glasses as a disguise rather than the eyes thing(obvious homage and joke), and Sarah would actually totally have guessed that her mom is Victory Belle since long ago. Sarah would always be throwing clues and snaky remarks at her mom so she actually admits it, but she would never take a clue and just keep pretending. And it would become increasingly ridiculous.
So yeah, the reason I made a name change is because really, the whole thing is becoming completely different from what it was. Only a very few building blocs are the same than before (basically: the civilian names and the fact she is a superman-template heroine with a daughter).
In my downtime I have written a few short texts to try what could be the "new Victory Belle", and it definitely is becoming something really weird but also kind of awesome and hopefully funny. Lots of breaking the 4th wall jokes and meta humor. I also think this new tone makes it more unique. More worthy to "exist despite the fact there already is Superman".
Maybe I should throw some of those texts out there to test the concept? I kind of fear it will rise demand for more Victory Belle as I am still attempting to kickstart Serina, though. XD
I'd definitely give a critique on it if you did release those texts And I always wanted to discuss her disguise with you but since it was something that wasn't on your top priorities I didnt want to irritate you.
Cause yeah, there really wasn't anything to her alter ego besides the eyes :I I know super man did that whole glasses bit, but I don't know I guess it just worked better with a male character? If you dont mind suggestions perhaps have her civilian look have the original hair, but as a super hero have the hair currently featured?
Well, in this new humorous take, having her be exactly the same face and haircut would actually be great for jokes. Her world becomes increasingly wacky and nonsensical over time, so really, having things be logical becomes less and less relevant. At this point , I pretty much decided that the point of Victory Belle was to embrace the stupid in the super/magical heroine genre and have fun with it. And as I said, I think it would give her value : because she basically was created as a ripoff to create a "superhero shooting little game", she always had been lacking something that would truly justify her existence. I think experimenting on the tone of the story could be something that would make her more worth existing.
The fact is that Serina seems like a so much better original project on a "regular" super/magical heroine, that Victory Belle probably was forced to evolve... even though she just is kind of is a daydream at this point .
All english speakers support the change it seems. But I have problem with other french people because "belle" also exists is French and doesn't have the same meaning... Overall I think I'll stick with the change. But I am not sure what this means for the future of this character.
Why does the french speaking people have a problem with "belle"? It's the female form of beau and in my eyes it says quite the same. OK, it's an adjective and not a noun like in english but is that so problematic?
