IMPORTANT : this is a stand-alone release of the ending movie of my flash game, as it was in the latest beta.
You might want to "earn" this ending by trying the game out here : [link]

It's been a month since the release of the "pretty much final" beta, which already contained this little movie.

Since then, I could not use many time for art, at least things beyond sketches.
The fact I no longer have internet at home doesn't help either, and is probably responsible for a little procrastination...

So, in order to fight the complete lack of updates and try to "put me back on tracks", I decided to post this as a stand-alone, just as I did with the intro.

I should also post pictures used in this separately as well : I think updating more often on DA actually stimulates me to draw, so I'll try to launch that virtuous circle running again.

So anyway, the ending movie.
I actually like this way better than the intro. Not saying the intro is totally bad to my eyes but I admit it had its mistakes.
The ending just flows better, IMO.

And you, what do you think?

Sound should hopefully come soon, until then, hope you still dig it in mute version.

Victory Girl just became one of my favorite superheroines. And the ending was a nice touch; sorry that your game project didn't go so well. I would've liked to see more.

I don't know what to respond.
I am glad you like her, but to me she represents a gigantic pile of problems I struggled with for virtually no results.

I don't exclude completely the idea of somehow coming back to her someday. But if I do, I'll definitely go through a complete redesign/rewriting.
But considering the global situation, I am really not sure this will ever happen.

Sad. It pains me to see an author viewing his/her creation as a gigantic pile of problems. It should be the exact opposite; I think creating a character through an imaginative design, well thought out dialogues, and sometimes even an endearing personality, is no easy task but is very artistic and special.
So I hope you come back to that project soon; it seems to have a lot of potential.

I have talked about this many times.

Issues were piling up in the plot, the game code, and I started to hate the character design.
(Amongst other places, I explain it here in horrible audio : [link]

I may have continued if the popular support had been bigger. but basically, it was not. Relative to the work required to code a game, this was just not worth it.
(To give an idea, each game was getting less favorites and views that a quickly done picture of a bikini girl.)

The game also offered the opportunity to make donations. I never got any.

I got a few people like you who said they liked her. Especially after I gave up (probably they realized that the game they took for granted would not come...). But sadly it is just too little, too late.

At some point an artist needs money or a good amount of support in order to keep doing something that big. I got neither so I eventually gave up.

Serina at least has support from my family. Some even offered me to lend me money. This never happened with Victory Girl although they knew about it. I don't know if Serina will ever be a success in the commercial sense of the term, but at least I feel like I am doing it for people who really desire it.

If people on the Internet had done that for Victory Girl, I probably wouldn't have changed my plans.

Hey, I know this is 2 years later, but I've seen your work, and it looks fantastic! It's a shame it got canned/cancelled due to the financial/personal problems... Look, I can't give you donations for a reason, but if I could, I would have done it instantly, you know? And hey, maybe you'll ever recover from those problems, causing a reboot of this! Such good art would be terrible to waste, you know?
HyaKkiDouR4n Featured By Owner Oct 25, 2015  Hobbyist Digital Artist
"I can't give you donations for a reason, but if I could, I would have done it instantly, you know?"

Everyone says that, and it's the problem in a nutshell. XD
"Oh no it's being wasted" does not translate into usable time resources sadly.
kevin190499 Featured By Owner Oct 25, 2015
Yeah, it's a shame it can't be solved easily, right? ^^; Well, I have some points on this account because someone donated me those a while ago, to give me the Core (in the past Premium) membership on here, but I never used it. I could ask that person if I could give it to you, though I don't know if that person would approve it, or that it would help you in that situation, you see?

Thanks but DA points will not help. Neither convenience stores nor computer/softwares companies take those. :/

Considering the conversation we had before, I thank you even more for that comment.
Nice to see some people won't judge the whole thing focusing only on a point they don't like much. :)

Why does the mom dress like that in front of her small child?
HyaKkiDouR4n Featured By Owner Jul 23, 2010  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Actually my mom did that on a pretty regular basis and I also used to make fun of that when I was a kid. She always said that since we are family, we at least saw each other naked once, so there is no reason to be too prude.

Overall, I am fairly normal in the end, so I'd say it is rather harmless for a mom to do that.

You made her so funny. Even though its a bit sad there is no enemy with equal powers. >;-3
She's just the most invincible and destructive being in the universe. ^^

... she looks exactly the same AS NORMAL xD why did her daughter didnt noticed it? ^^
This was allways irritating, even back when sailor moon was aired on TV. xD

In fact I kinda wanted Victory Girl to convey some nostalgia of these old times when superheroes where pretty much living gods and we didn't care that much about logic and plot holes.
It is kinda meant like an hommage to our childhoods and a time during which storytelling was different : more "dreamy" and idealised could we say.

The idea is kinda the same than in Superman : Sarah can't conceive that her somewhat goofy mom could ever be Victory Girl, even if she kinda wonder how come they look so alike.
I always thought this is what explained the people's "blindness" in superhero/magical girl stories : they actually suspect something but then their thinking goes to : "nah, I have to be wrong" and suppresses it.

Anyway if I ever do a sequel, I might just as well explore this side of the story, with Sarah's suspicions about her mother's secret identity growing... I might also search for a villain that better matches her powers...

Anyway thanks for commenting!

Oh and the opening 3 lines by the Alien King...
You were playing Symphony of the Night weren't you just before you wrote those: "What?! This Cannot Be! AAAAAAAAGH!"

I agree with most that the text goes to fast. Also, there's a few places where it's not quite correct English, but that may be on purpose.
HyaKkiDouR4n Featured By Owner Feb 24, 2009  Hobbyist Digital Artist
If you happen to remember where, that would help to decide.
Sarah and the alien can do mistakes, but supposedly not Victory Girl.
Taigan Featured By Owner Feb 24, 2009
The one I mostly remember from VG is her referring to Sarah "making dreams." Better English would be to say that she "has dreams" or "is having dreams."
HyaKkiDouR4n Featured By Owner Feb 24, 2009  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Thanks, I'll correct it.
alexapappas Featured By Owner Feb 23, 2009

A very very very long final video.... i think
HyaKkiDouR4n Featured By Owner Feb 24, 2009  Hobbyist Digital Artist
Probably, but the purpose was also to experiment around this way of storytelling.
Heleiel Featured By Owner Feb 24, 2009  Professional Traditional Artist
So it's kinda a "interactive" Story.. a mix between Cartoon and game?
If it's the purpose i'm curious to play the game :D
HyaKkiDouR4n Featured By Owner Feb 25, 2009  Hobbyist Digital Artist
That was the idea, even if I have to admit that I made some mistakes due to it being my first try at such a thing...

I learned a lot from it, though.

At any rate, great stuff. Although It got a tad mushy at times, but i still lurved every bit. ;D
